Connect your AI app to Perks

You can connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or any other MCP-ready AI app to your Perks data, then ask it questions about your members, points and rewards. The app can only read. It cannot change anything.

Figures are exact. Analysis by your AI app is not guaranteed by Portus.

Before you start

  • The connector must be on for your business. Portus turns it on. If you see "AI apps are not switched on yet", contact Perks support.
  • You need the "Connect AI apps" permission. Owners and managers usually have it. If you don't, ask your owner.
  • Sign in as yourself. A shared till PIN can't connect an app.

The address to use in every app is:

https://mcp.tryperks.online/mcp

Connect Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors. Some versions show this under Settings.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Perks and paste the address above.
  4. Choose Add, then Connect. Claude opens the Perks sign-in page.
  5. Sign in, check the screen, and choose Allow.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner of the Claude account adds the connector first, then each person connects it. Free Claude accounts can add one custom connector.

Connect ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open the Plugins page.
  2. Choose the + button, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it Perks, paste the address above, and choose OAuth for sign-in.
  4. Accept ChatGPT's warning about custom servers, then sign in to Perks and choose Allow.

OpenAI lists custom servers for its Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. On those plans a workspace admin may need to allow them first. If you don't see this option, check your ChatGPT plan.

Connect Gemini

The Gemini app has no published way to add a custom connector yet. Two Google products can connect today:

  • Gemini CLI, for people comfortable with a terminal. Add the address to mcpServers in its settings, then run /mcp auth to sign in.
  • Gemini Enterprise, set up by your company's Google Cloud admin as a custom MCP server. Ask Perks support first, because it needs details from us.

What you will see when you connect

Perks shows the app's name and asks you to allow it. Check that you started the connection yourself. If Perks says it could not verify the app's address, choose Allow only if you trust the app.

On the screen What it means
Read only The app can see your figures and cannot change anything. It can't give points, publish a reward or start a campaign.
Your business details and branches The business name, plan, branches, time zone and currency.
Your members and their membership Member counts and groups. People with permission also see a member's id, masked phone number, tier, balance, last visit and available rewards.
Points and rewards Points issued and used, points still owed, and how each reward performs.
Your loyalty programme's results What points, tiers, gifts, bundles and promotions brought in, and which campaigns are running.
Visits and visit ratings Busy days and hours, and rating scores. Written comments are never shared.
Help improve Portus (optional) When the app can't answer a question, it may send Portus one line about it, with email addresses, web addresses and numbers removed. It is off unless you tick it.

The app sees what you see. It follows your role and branches, and any change applies to the next question:

  • A branch manager gets only their own branches.
  • A cashier gets the business details and single member cards.
  • If you lose a permission, the app loses it too.

Customers stay private. Phone numbers are always masked, like +965 •••• 7788, even for owners. Member names, email addresses, notes and written comments are not shared.

How to disconnect

  1. In Helm, open Settings, then Connected AI apps.
  2. Choose Revoke next to the app.

The app stops at once. People with the "Manage connected AI apps" permission can see and revoke everyone's connections. Removing the connector inside the AI app does not end the connection on our side, so revoke it in Helm as well.

A connection also ends on its own after 30 days without use, and after 90 days at most. To carry on, connect again.

If something goes wrong

What you see What to do
AI apps are not switched on yet Contact Perks support.
You can't connect from this sign-in Sign in with your own account, not a shared device or a PIN.
"This connection request can't be used" Go back to your AI app and connect again.
The app says something is "not allowed for your role" Your role doesn't include that data. Ask your owner.
The app says it can't answer yet Some questions need data Perks doesn't hold yet. The app should say so instead of guessing.
The app was told to wait There were too many questions at once. Try again shortly.

Getting good answers

  • Ask about a clear period, such as "last month".
  • Check an important figure in Helm before you act on it. The tools give the app exact figures, but its sums, charts and conclusions are its own.
  • A stronger AI model usually analyses better than a cheaper one.
  • Text your staff or customers typed, such as a reward title, is shown to the app as data. If an answer tells you to do something unusual, check it first.
